At RISE we are passionate about helping young men make positive decisions in their lives that will benefit themselves and those around them. We work with boys aged 11-18 in local high schools and in the community around South Leeds providing a number of different clubs and services including:
After School Club
Every Thursday night we meet at Involve in Hunslet to hang out, play games and generally have a fun time! This involves table tennis, xbox, board games, climbing walls, group games, basketball, dodgeball and well the list really does keep going! Boys aged from 13+ that live in the LS10/11 area can attend the group for free and we’ll even provide transport there and back! We also take the group on regular trips to places like Laser Quest, Jump Inc and The Works Skatepark.
Thursday night’s at RISE is the best part of my week!
Rise Bike Club
We have teamed up with Leeds Urban Bike Park to offer local boys a 6 week course where a small group will get access to mountain bikes and BMXs and have sessions led by professional bike coaches. Throughout the 6 week program the boys will have the opportunity to ride the different tracks and trails, learn bike control skills and learn the basic maintenance and up-keep of a bike. The club is all about providing boys with an opportunity they wouldn’t have otherwise had as well as raising aspirations and giving boys new skills.
We provide one-to-one mentoring in local high schools supporting and journeying with boys aged 11-16. Life’s not easy at the best of times and having the opportunity to get something off your chest or talk through a problem can make a massive difference. We would believe every young person needs to have their voice heard and through mentoring we provide a platform to help boys process their emotions and take positive steps forward in their lives.
Mentoring has helped me improve my confidence
As well as mentoring we also run small groups in schools to support boys with different issues such as low self-esteem, anger, bullying and making positive choices. Schools aren’t always an easy place to be and many boys struggle to adapt to the high school life. Through our 6 week course we aim to give boys the skills and confidence they need to succeed in school.
RISE made the young people feel comfortable to talk about topics many of them haven’t been able to do within an open forum. Some of the young people in the group can be very challenging but the delivery style really engaged and allowed them to interact throughout.

PSHE / Relationships and Sex Education
Through our tailored boys sex education program, ’The RISE Up Course’, we provide 13-16 year old boys the relevant and engaging education they need so that they can make healthy choices when it comes to relationships and sex. We cover topics such as consent, pornography, STIs, pregnancy, what it means to be a man and what makes a good relationship. We have deliberately made the course as hands-on and practical as possible so that every boy who completes the course will have lots of opportunity to share their opinion and to ask as many questions as they like.
The RISE Up Course taught me how to have respect in my relationships
