Zambian Reflections and #Grateful3

Me (Kate) and Hannah have just got back from Zambia spending 10 days at the Vinjeru School in Kapiri Imposhi. It was a brilliant time helping out at the primary school and secondary school, doing PE, music, assemblies and craft as well as having the chance for Shine to go global, delivering girls course sessions with the teenagers at the... Summer Sessions at Shine

We had a great summer at The Shine Project with our Summer Sessions programme! Here at Shine we know that school holidays can be long, and if you don’t have the opportunity to go away they can feel even longer. With not much to do, summer is also a time where young people are more at risk, so this year... Read More

The Shine Nail Bar Turns One!

We're celebrating one year for our social enterprise Nail Bar! We have a lot to celebrate, too, as we go from strength to strength and offer more activities for The Shine Project. Shine Trip to Flamingo Land

Shine Trip to Lightwater Valley In July, The Shine Project visited Flamingo Land on what seemed the hottest day of the year. Many of the girls, including Kate and Rachel, tackled most of the rollercoasters there. While Helen G and Helen P were official bag holders for the day. The water rides were a hit with everyone and everyone was... Read More

The Girl I Want To Be Course

We’ve just finished ‘The Girl I Want To Be Course’ at Cockburn School with a lovely group of Year 8s and Year 9s. We had loads of fun; exploring and discussing a range of issues. All the girls received goodie bags and cards as “Shine Graduates” and a celebration meal out at Frankie and Bennies. These are some comments from... Read More

The Climb

Stylish harnesses, climbing overhangs, a funny welsh instructor and a good dose of overcoming fears made for a great climbing trip last week. Pretty much none of the girls had climbed before but they were all up the wall in a flash. The girls were fab at giving more difficult climbs a shot, belaying for each other and being encouraging....
