The Shine Project

The Shine Project is an exciting programme supporting girls and young women in inner South Leeds. The project raises the awareness, resilience and character of girls growing up in South Leeds through providing in-school and in-community courses, girls groups and one to one mentoring. Through The Shine Nail Bar, a social enterprise which provides fantastic beauty treatments, we are creating opportunities for women and a safe place for the girls to be themselves. To find out more about the Shine Project please visit www.theshineproject.org.uk.

Before Shine I felt like my life was destroyed, that I would never make any friends and that I was worth nothing. Since coming to Shine I have made friends and I felt a lot happier than before and then things were going better at home as well. I now feel like my life has been put back together.

The TRY Project

TRY! Offers free training in the community to help people learn how to volunteer in a charity shop, covering everything from sorting donations to customer service and trading standards.

Participants build skills that they can take into employment or further training and have the opportunity to contribute meaningfully as volunteers in our charity shops.

For more information on how to get involved, click here.

I didn't think I had much to offer or much to give - but after completing the course and helping out now and again - I have learnt that I have skills to give, like helping sort the books.

Social Enterprise

We know that to be sustainable and build lasting community change, we need to be innovative to ensure we are financially secure. We've invested in setting up social enterprises that provide a revenue stream for the charity, while also being core to our mission of providing opportunities in the local area.
